“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Romans 10:9

DO I BELIEVE IN GOD?

It is a fundamental fact that most people believe in God. Most of us believe that there is a real and living God who created the universe and is all powerful. The issue is; how must I live my life in order to please Him and is that even possible? Some will argue that it isn’t possible to please God simply because we are all sinners and since God is perfect and sinless, how could we possible do anything to deserve His grace and His mercy. So we come to the question, what must I do to be saved? The answer to the question is nothing. It is impossible to please God because all have sinned and come short of His glory (Rom.3:23). So that brings us to the second question:

WHY ARE WE SAVED?

Since it is impossible to please God and yet He will save us from our sin and as the writer of Jude wrote in 1:24, “He is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…”, therefore our redemption is not our own doing. In John 3:16, Jesus says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. It is very clear that it is the love of God that saves us from our sins and not anything we do to earn our salvation. So someone would ask, “What about believing?” It is true that we must believe the Gospel to be saved but without the love of God and the gift of His own Son for the salvation of the world, there would be no Gospel to believe in. We believe the Gospel of Christ and He receives us into theKingdomofGod. But after we do believe, we come to the third question:

HOW ARE WE SAVED?

The Apostle Paul clearly states in Rom. 10:9, believing must be expressed. There is power in the tongue; there is power in the spoken word. God created the universe by speaking it into existence. It is clearly stated in scripture the importance of speaking the Word of God. Jesus said in Mat.17:20, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Our words have power and therefore Paul writes in Rom. 10:9, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” So you believe in God and His love for you; you have confessed your belief, so let us address the next question:

DO I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT, THAT IF I DIED TODAY I WOULD BE WITH JESUS IN HEAVEN?

You believe in God as creator of heaven and earth, you believe that God loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for your sins, and finally, you believe that your words of faith in the Gospel is your salvation. It is now a good time to pray the prayer of agreement that God will save you. Read the follow prayer out loud, hopefully with the witness of someone whom you truly believe to be a Christian: “Heavenly Father, I believe that you are The Creator of heaven and earth and I believe that You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus to die for my sins. I now confess with my mouth that Jesus is God and that He died and rose again for my eternal life. I open the door of my heart and I invite you in to save me, in Jesus’ Name I pray and receive my salvation in Christ. Amen” You are now a born again believer in Jesus Christ, PRAISE THE LORD!

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?

It is extremely important for you to take decisive action now. Seek the counsel of a friend or associate whom you know to be a born again believer and request direction in locating a Bible believing Gospel preaching church. Of course you are welcome to join us here at Bethel but what is most important is that you receive believers baptism by water and then to join a Christ-centered church.
